Guest Instructor Ken Southworth passes away

On December 5, 2007, our good friend Ken Southworth passed away at the age of 89. Ken was a Guest Instructor at VanArts in our summer intensive program for several years, first visiting us in 1999. He lived in Anaheim, CA with his wife Carol. Ken contributed a great deal of knowledge and experience to our students over the years, and we will miss him dearly.

Ken Southworth (1918-2007)

Ken Southworth has extensive animation credits spanning an almost fifty-year career, including twenty-one years with Hanna-Barbera Productions (Huckleberry Hound, Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, Top Cat and Johnny Quest), extensive animation work at Disney (Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella), MGM (Tom & Jerry), Walter Lantz (Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willy), Warner Bros. (Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny introduction to Gremlins II, Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird on the introduction to the TV Special Earthday), Filmation (Lassie, Star Trek, and He-Man), and many other studios and projects.
