Students and Staff got into the Christmas spirit this week with a fun gathering to kick off our annual Food Drive. 2014 has been a great year for VanArts graduates in Character Animation, Game Art & Design and Visual Effects who got to see their names in the credits of top feature films & TV series. Many of these films opened at #1 in the box office and the industry for animation/VFX is still booming with studios hiring like crazy and major houses like Sony Pictures Imageworks and Industrial Light & Magic expanding their operations just blocks away from VanArts. read more about Year in Review: VanArts Grad Credits on Screen
VanArts President Alan Phillips is currently visiting schools and giving presentations in China, in cooperation with the Maple Leaf Educational Systems Student Recruitment Fair. He has just paid a visit to Beijing Film Academy, the largest film academy in Asia which has attracted guest professors such as James Cameron and other prolific names in the film industry. read more about VanArts visits Beijing Film Academy in China
Qualoth is the primary software used by Dreamworks Animation for simulating cloth on their feature films, and serves as a stable, reliable alternative to Maya nCloth, especially for fast motions on characters. FXHair serves the same purpose for excellent simulations on hair for creatures and characters. Through conversations with our faculty at SIGGRAPH 2014 this summer, FXGear was glad to provide us with these tools to help bring our students' demo reels to the next level!
