Wayne Gilbert - Head of Animation
Wayne’s career spans more than three decades, has two Clio awards, and has worked on productions ranging from Care Bears to Star Wars. He is a graduate of Sheridan College, and has worked there as an instructor and coordinator of their Classical Animation Program. His professional career has taken him to the top studios including Walt Disney Canada, Industrial Light & Magic and Electronic Arts. Wayne is also a published author, his book Simplified Drawing for Planning Animation is a required text at many animation schools. Intro to Anatomical Drawing

This course is designed to teach the artist the basic fundamentals of anatomical drawing, and covers the human skeleton and muscles. Anatomical drawing can be applied to the creation of believable characters for animation, game art, or film.

Intro to Digital Concept Art

This course is designed to introduce the fundamentals of digital concept art, which is the primary form of design for video games, feature films, and computer animation.

Character Animation Summer Intensive

This 1-month intenisve course in July introduces students to the foundation principles of 2D and 3D character animation, taught by our staff of industry professionals.

Intro to Stop-Motion Animation

This is the only specialized course in Vancouver for the popular technique of stop-motion puppet animation, taught by author & animator Ken Priebe. Covered topics are stop-motion history, animation principles and inside tips on how to build puppets using wire, clay, latex and other materials.

Maya (Various Levels): Advanced Environment Modeling

This continuation of our Level I course focuses mostly on modeling in Maya, including shape deformation, basic polygons and UV mapping, lighting and photo-realistic rendering, and the opportunity to work on a project.

In this popular course, you will learn the interface and basics of modeling, lighting, texturing and animation using Maya, one of the most popular 3D software packages in the CG industry.

Intro to Basic Drawing

This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to draw or develop their drawing skills for their portfolio. The very basics of drawing will be covered: composition, perspective, blind contours and structural life drawing (using nude figure models).
