New Program for Web Development & Interactive Design
March 1st, 2011
VanArts is pleased to announce our new program for Web Development & Interactive Design!
Formerly taught at the Institute of Advanced Media (IAM Training), their program is now being offered as part of our roster of one-year diploma programs at VanArts. We have just welcomed today a number of students who are still continuing their studies after the official closing of the IAM school, now moving forward in their new home at VanArts.
The Web Development & Interactive Design Diploma Program at Vanarts is all about integration, and a focus on project management, client relationships, team development and skills specialization. Regular interaction with web clients and industry partners allows us to keep our finger on the pulse of current trends, new technologies and unique approaches to online business. An important aspect of training at VanArts is the curricular integration of these industry representatives.

Applications are now being accepted for our next start dates in the new Web Development Diploma Program.

Media Arts & Acting Boot Camp
March 8th, 2011
This week at VanArts, we are hosting our annual Media Arts and Acting Boot Camps for BC high school students. We currently have 30 students, primarily in grades 12, 11, and 10, from high schools all over the Vancouver mainland (and Vancouver Island) who are here for 4 full days of training, exercises and activities that give them a good taste of many of the career areas we train for.
Students in our Media Arts Boot Camp are gaining experience in 2D Animation (Monday), 3D Animation (Tuesday), Game Art & Design (Wednesday), and Visual Effects (Thursday). Through gaining hands-on experience in these areas, these students will get to understand the similarities and differences in these various aspects of production for the film, TV and video game industries, all taught by our own industry professional staff.
Students in our Acting Boot Camp are exploring the various facets of our Acting Program first hand, including improv, movement, voice and all of the skills that need to be focused on for a professional acting career. Of course they are also benefitting from the massive industry experience brought to them by our instructors.
This program has long served as a great introduction to VanArts for past students who enjoyed the experience enough to return for our full-time programs after graduating high school. Welcome to everyone, enjoy the week and we hope to have you back again soon!

Photography Grad creates Website for Kenya Orphanage
March 30th, 2011
Sundy Nagai graduated from our Digital Photography program in 2010, and has since sent us an update on her career path.
Sundy has returned to an orphanage in Kenya where she volunteered prior to her studies, and has now created a website for them, complete with her own photography work. Their goal is to help at least 20 children enroll into school, and so far they have received enough donations to enroll the 6 oldest. Donations made through the website will go directly to the director of the orphanage.
