On Friday, January 11th, students in VanArts' Character Animation, Game Art & Design and Visual Effects programs received a presentation by Bertrand Bry-Marfaing, who is currently a Lighting Technical Director (TD) at Pixar Canada.
Bertrand spoke to our packed theater of students about the creative and technical challenges and outlook on the industry throughout his career, which also includes his role as Senior Lookdev-Lighting TD on Avatar (Oscar, Best Visual Effects, 2010) and Your Highness at Framestore UK. He also served as Lighting Supervisor on The Tales of Despereaux and Lead Lighting TD on Where the Wild Things Are, Lighting Artist /Lead on the TV series Fungus the Bogeyman and feature film Free Jimmy at various studios in Montreal, and Shader Writer on The Hunt for Gollum.
