VanArts Grads Get Animated at Local Film Festivals

Putting hours of blood, sweat and tears into an animated short film is no easy feat, but it’s all worth it when your film is shown to an audience on a big screen!

VanArts’ Character Animation department is thrilled to see recent graduates being recognized at upcoming film festivals in Vancouver in the coming weeks. Drake Tuura, an animation graduate from last spring, is having his student film BunBun Blast screened at Vancouver’s Reel Youth Film Festival on October 1st and 10th. Chosen by a youth selection panel from over 1500 submissions and almost 100 countries around the world, this collection shows the world through the eyes of an incredibly gifted emerging group of filmmakers. Also selected as part of the annual Spark Animation Festival are student films from our fall 2017 graduating class: Yoga to be Kidding by Jon Rom and The Ballad of Animated Dave by Cullen Cochran. Both films will be screening on Sunday, October 29th as part of the MADE IN CANADA program. Charity proceeds from ticket sales to this screening benefit Covenant House Vancouver. Tickets here>>

Congratulations to our animated filmmakers! We hope you will check out their work on the big screen and show them your support.
