Visual Effects

Overview

Visual Effects is much more than just pushing buttons. To create great effects for movies, television, and games, you need to be an equal measure of visionary artist and problem-solving technician. The one-year Visual Effects diploma program operates within a studio production paradigm and teaches you to think like a VFX artist.

You will learn:

  • tools for VFX production including 3D Stereoscopy, green screen, and 2D/3D content creation using Maya, Nuke and Houdini
  • advanced techniques and solutions for compositing, modeling, lighting and texturing
  • production methods and teamwork skills expected by industry recruiters and VFX supervisors

You graduate with:

  • a diploma
  • a professional demo reel highlighting your skills
  • industry contacts and networking strategies for employment

"Of all the local schools that we look to hire for our junior positions in visual effects, we always start with VanArts. The grads are consistently the most production-ready, with the right attitude and the broadest & best understanding of how production workflow occurs in a professional environment. There is a high success rate for continued employment for VanArts graduates."

Jason Dowdeswell - Head of Image Engine, Vancouver

VanArts' Department Head for Visual Effects and Game Art & Design, Bill Dwelly, was interviewed at our SIGGRAPH 2011 booth by Production HUB.
