Ian McGuffie - Head of Digital Photography
Ian McGuffie is one of the leading members of the Vancouver photographic community, with over 40 years of professional experience.  For the past nineteen years he has been director/curator of Exposure Gallery, Vancouver's oldest photographic gallery.  As an award-winning photographer his photographs have been exhibited in Europe, North America and Japan.  He is also President of the Vancouver Association for Photographic Arts, a society for the promotion of photography as a medium of creative and artistic expression.

Christa LeCraw - Program Director, Digital Photography
Christa has been working in the visual and production arts for 10 years, beginning with a BA from Queen's University. After her career in film and television production brought her to Vancouver she began her career in photography. She received her technical training from Langara College. In addition to freelance photography and teaching, Christa has worked as the Assistant Manager at Lens & Shutter. She is now the Program Director for Digital Photography at VanArts and a foundation instructor teaching Digital Workflow in the full-time program. Christa brings the complexity of digital photography to her students in a most accessible, comprehensive and inspiring environment for even the most techno-phobic amateurs.

Session 2: Sound Recording for DSLR Photographers

Learn how to capture and edit sound using external microphones and recording gear to give your videos the professional sound they deserve.

Session 3: Video Editing for DSLR Photographers

Dive head-first into non-linear video editing to put the polish on your digital video projects. Editing concepts as well as an introduction to transitions, effects and simple motion graphics are covered.

Session 1: Video Recording for DSLR Photographers

Students will learn the basics of pre-production, cinematography, lighting, stabilization and motion while capturing footage for a short video project. The course finishes off with basic editing using the latest editing software.

Video Production for DSLR Photographers (Full Series)

This full series of intensive weekend courses is designed to introduce the fundamental concepts of video for DSLR photographers. Each weekend focuses on one of three essential aspects of video production and can be taken individually or as a packaged series.

Digital Imaging Workflow

In this course, newcomers to digital photography will learn the basics of digital image files, colour calibration and image enhancing using programs like Bridge, Lightroom and Photoshop.
