2D Animation

2D Animation or "Classical Animation" has been the art form's most popular medium for over 100 years thanks to the innovations of people such as Walt Disney, Tex Avery and Hayao Miyazaki to name but a few. Founded on the 50-year career of the late master animator Lee Mishkin, VanArts' 2D Animation Program has effectively transformed lives and careers!

This is the program that VanArts was founded on, and has in recent years been updated to meet the growing needs of the industry. Since so much of the 2D work these days is being done in Flash, our program gives students 3 FULL MONTHS of Flash training in the final term, vs. many other programs that only offer a few weeks at the very end.

A quick look at the studio list on ColdHardFlash.com will show you just how much the industry has grown, so VanArts is proud to meet the demand for fresh talent.

Careers in the 2D Animation field include key and assistant animators, layout and storyboard artists, character and prop designers, inbetweeners and clean-up artists. To carry your 2D skills into the next realm of opportunity, you can also take our 3D Animation program for a second year of study to further your career options.
