VanArts presents Pixar RenderMan Workshop

VanArts students have the exciting opportunity to attend a RenderMan Workshop; they will see how Pixar combines creativity with technology to make feature films during a special presentation of shading and lighting for Pixar's Up, with a focus on Pixar's RenderMan.

Shading and Lighting for Pixar's Up (Part 1)
William (Bill) Dwelly’s film credits include multiple Oscar-winning Avatar (as Lead Technical Director) at WETA Digital; I Robot & King Kong (as Senior Animation Technical Director) and Oscar-winning animated short Ryan.
Bill has worked in the film and entertainment industry since the late 1980’s as a Theatrical Lighting Designer, a Cameraman, Pipeline Developer and CG Supervisor. In addition to his production experience, William was Head of the Maya program at Seneca College in Ontario and is the author of two books; Modeling in Maya and Character Rigging in Maya.

WETA's William Dwelly visits VanArts

Students in our Entertainment Art and Visual Effects programs received a visit from William Dwelly, who was most recently lead layout technical director on Avatar, at WETA Digital. He spoke to students about his work and how to break into the industry.
