Video Film Heading

Overview

The Video & Film Production (VFP) Diploma Program offered through Columbia Academy at VanArts is a one-year program designed for individuals who want a career in the video, film, television or other related industries. Through our unique educational approach of performing the actual tasks done by industry professionals, you will develop the right standards and attitudes towards your work, and graduate with training and experience.

For four decades, the Columbia Academy of Radio & Television Arts provided quality education to thousands of students. When Columbia closed in 2011 many of its faculty and students came to VanArts to continue their teaching and studies. VanArts is proud to continue this great Columbia tradition of professional training for the video & filmmaking industry.

The learning environment is a simulated production center, where you will progress through the ranks by working on class projects and potential work for actual clients or personal projects. The program structure is designed to develop a strong sense of efficient time management as well as adjusting to the realities of deadlines and funding as expected in the industry.

Based on your chosen stream, in VanArts' VFP program you will have the opportunity to gain experience in any of the following production positions: Director (multi or single-camera), Producer, 1st or 2nd Assistant Director/Producer, Production Assistant, Senior/Junior/Assistant or Apprentice Editor, Director of Photography, Junior/Senior Camera Operator, Gaffer, Key Grip, Location Sound Mixer, and many more.
