Animator at Sony Imageworks visits VanArts
This week the Animation Department at VanArts welcomed Character Animator John Vassallo to visit and speak to our students about his career and answer questions about working in the animation industry.
John just recently worked on the upcoming animated features Hotel Transylvania (2012) at Vancouver's Sony Imageworks studio, and Escape from Planet Earth (2013) at Rainmaker Entertainment. His previous feature credits also include animating on Rise of the Planet of the Apes (at WETA Digital), Legend of the Guardians (at Animal Logic), Alvin and the Chipmunks (at Rhythm and Hues), and many more at studios such as Luma Pictures, Digital Domain, and Stargate Films.
With such a professional resume, John was able to answer questions about transitioning between different studios & pipelines, working with directors and animation teams, and many other topics of interest to our students.
